GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — This year, twenty-four Union High School learners took part in the school's Senior Chess Leagues, known as the Bishops and Knight Leagues.
Ronan Potgieter finished in first place in the Bishops League and Sabrina Potgieter in the Knights League, both with a win rate of 73%.
From the leagues, Union’s best and most dedicated chess players were chosen for the tournament.
In the semi-finals, Hayden Fourie played Tracy Petitt and Liano Naidoo took on Peter Watermeyer.
The final took place last Friday in the Union Quad, where Peter Watermeyer played against Hayden Fourie, with Hayden being victorious.
