NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — To add to the sporting theme of the long weekend, a group of riders arrived in the village on Saturday afternoon, 28 April, after completing their 86km cycle through the Western, Northern and Eastern Cape.
Each year, cycling enthusiast Dawie Putter gathers local mountain bikers and they set off from ‘Grand View’- the farm of Janet and Geoff Kingwill in the Murraysburg district.
The route takes riders along the back routes of the Sneeuberg range - through the boundaries of three provinces - and ends on the lovely downhill into Nieu-Bethesda.
This year the Kingwill clan made up most of the riders as they were all in the area to celebrate an 80th birthday.
