GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - After the great success of last year’s inaugural Koedoeskloof MTB Challenge, which attracted close to 100 entrants, the organisers are hoping for even more entries this year.
This year's race - which is being held on the Karoo-lus Festival weekend in Graaff-Reinet - will take riders through the spectacular scenery of the Camdeboo National Park.
There are three different races within the event: either 80km or 40km for the serious bikers, and a fun ride of 8km for families and those who just want to get a taste of the race.
There will be cash prizes totalling R5 000 for the two main events, and medals for every competitor, including those in the fun race.
Entry fees for members of CSA are R400 for the 80km race, and R250 for the 40km race, with an additional R35 per event for non-members. The 8km race will cost R40 per entrant.
The event is being organised by Hoër Volkskool, and the race will start from the school grounds at 08:00 on Saturday, 29 September.
Pre-entries may be made online on the festival’s website www.karoolus.co.za , or by contacting Hestie at hvsfinansies.co.za or 049 891 0852. Late entries will be accepted on the day of the ride, from 06:00 till 07:00 at the venue.
