GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - It's not too early for locals, victors and avid hikers and cyclists to gear up for the annual Hike & Hobble for Hospice fundraising event, which will take place on Saturday 9 May.
The popular event, in aid of Graaff-Reinet's Camdeboo Hospice, hopes to raise R150 000 for the organisation. Can't make it? Not to fret, you can also sponsor a participant.
The route starts at the top of Ouberg outside Graaff-Reinet and follows the gravel road, past Riverdene to Nieu-Bethesda. The starting time is 6am, and everyone is invited to walk or cycle at their own pace.
The events include:
- A 1-day hike (although advertised as 50km, it is closer to 47km)
- A 100km-hike/cycle over 2-days (there-and-back)
- A 2-day hike for those who would like to attempt half of the 50km hike on the first day, to complete it on the second day
- A 21km 1-day hike following the same route (R500 entry fee)
Entries, except for the 21km route, are R1 000. This includes a t-shirt, boerewors roll, water stops along the route and a beer/cold drink at the end of your journey.
Contact Sharon Shell (084 548 5373) or send an e-mail to admin@unionschools.co.za for entry forms.
It's time to get into gear for the annual Hobble & Hike. Hiking for charity is fun!
