SPORT NEWS - On Saturday afternoon, 30 September, the Graaff-Reinet Bowling Club held their monthly Spar Handicap Pairs competition.
Twenty bowlers turned out for this popular format of the game.
With the weather turning foul late afternoon, the game was shortened by two ends and Fanie van der Merwe and his partner, Jean Rosslee were the convincing winners, beating their opponents 24 shots to nine.
Upcoming events
- October is the month featuring the Gem of the Karoo Classic. This competition features 36 teams (144 bowlers) from towns and cities throughout the country and quality bowls will be on display. The Classic takes place from 22 to 24 October.
- The Summer Business League begins on Thursday evening, 26 October. Players are urged to get their teams organised for five weeks of fun, competitive bowls.
