GRAAFF-REINET NEWS —Last Saturday afternoon, 16 bowlers competed in the monthly Spandau Spar Handicap Pairs competition.
After 21 ends, two sides recorded 34 - 11 victories. The combinations involved were Bernie Prinsloo and Garth Edwards and the Peter Watermeyer/Shawn West duo.
Under normal circumstances, the winners are decided on a "shots for/shots against" ratio. In this case, all things were equal, so the next step "ends won/ends lost" was taken into consideration. As luck would have it, this was also the same - 16 ends for and 5 ends against - in both cases.
The procedure would now be that the sides play a "sudden death" end, but when the controlling body reached this decision, the skips had already gone home.
At the end of it all, the two leads were declared the winners of the Spar vouchers.
