GRAAFF-REINET — Last Saturday three teams competed for the Midlands Trips title on the greens of the Graaff-Reinet Bowling Club.
Played on a round-robin basis, the two Graaff-Reinet teams, skipped by Marenda Lückhoff and Charlene Burger competed in the first game, with Lückhoff the winner by eight shots.
The second round matched Lückhoff against the Middelburg side, skipped by Alida Zwiegers. The Middelburg team won by 10 shots.
The final game matched Burger against Zwiegers and once again the Middelburg trio recorded a 13-shot win to take the title.
• This weekend the men will compete for the Midlands Trips title in Graaff-Reinet.
• Last weekend, eight Midlands bowlers took part in the yearly Inggs Cup in Uitenhage. The Midlands players put on a fantastic display of bowls and ended second overall against stiff opposition. The team comprising of Arthur Langley, Wessel and Le Roux Fourie and Niel Colyn were the winners of their section.
