INTERNATIONAL NEWS - Retired boxer Floyd Mayweather has added fuel to rumors of a potential super-fight with MMA-star Conor McGregor by telling reporters that such a spectacle is "possible."
British tabloid, The Sun, had claimed Friday that a summer boxing bout between the pair was set to be announced in the coming weeks.
But the report was greeted with skepticism by most observers. "It's not true. It's just a tabloid story," UFC president Dana White told Yahoo Sports.
Speaking to Fighthype.com late Saturday, however, 39-year-old Mayweather said of potentially coming out of retirement to face an MMA fighter: "It's possible. The rumors that you've all been hearing is the rumors that I started."
"It may not be a rumor. Keep your fingers crossed. It may be a boxer versus an MMA fighter. We just don't know."

Mayweather, who is undefeated in 49 fights, went on to state that the minimum he would expect to earn for gracing the ring once more would be $100 million.
Later Sunday, McGregor tweeted a graphic of himself and Mayweather squaring off with an accompanying message of "MMA Vs Boxing."
