GRAAFF-REINET GOLFING NEWS — Thanks to the very generous sponsorship of many farmers, the Saturday golfers at the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club walked away with prizes of kudu and springbuck.
The weather was perfect which encouraged good play and high scores.
The winners in the Better-Ball competition were Vlam Pretorius and Jacques Wagener with 51 points,they were followed by Bernie Weyer and Hubri Bruyn in second place with 49 points, Grant Rudlin and Dennis Hendriks in third place, Johnny Ludick and Piet Meyer in fourth place, Yvonne Drummond and Cheryl Waddelowin fifth place, Colin Warner and Charl du Plessis in sixth place and Rowen George and Bjorn Isaacs in seventh place.
The club welcomed the visitors, Aba le Roux and Ronel de Wet, to the day's play.
After the prize-giving a delicious meal of Hunters’ Pot with dumplings, rice and salad was served followed by cappuccino/coffee pudding with ice-cream.
The committee hopes that more golfers will enjoy this annual event next year.
In the Wednesday Gold Rush sponsored competition, first place went to Jacques Wagener (35 points) and the second place to Frikkie Coetzee (34 points).
Interesting golf competitions are scheduled for the month of August.
Next Saturday, 4 August, will see the monthly Medal competition, sponsored by Pick n Pay, being contested. Tee-off will commence at 11:30.
An IPS competition will be played on Saturday, 11 August, the club's AGM followed by a 4-Ball Alliance competition will commence at 10:00 on 18 August and 25 August will see a Better-Ball Medal competition being hosted by the local club.
