GRAAFF-REINET GOLF NEWS - Wally Gentry played an exceptional game of golf on Saturday, 9 February, to win the Bogey competition hosted by the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club on +6.
Chris Koeberg came second on +4 with Willie Claassen third on +1.
- In the Kirber Cup competition, Chris Koeberg and Willie Claassen beat Bernie Weyer and Kenny Eaton.
- The Wednesday Gold Rush sponsored competition was won by André du Plessis with 36 points, Dave Luscombe was second with 35 points and third was Jacques Wagener with 34 points. Wagener and Du Plessis played 2-clubs.
- On Sunday, the EP Junior golf competition was contested on the greens of the local golf course.
Malan Potgieter was the overall winner with a 72 nett and was also the winner in the U.15 age category.
Tiaan van den Brink on 74 won the U.19 section, Deon Valentine on 87 won the U.17 section and local Laer Volkskool learner Johndré Ludick on 75 won the U.13 section.
- On Saturday, 26 January, at the Oppie Bol competition, Weppie Weideman won the day. As it was an attendance prize-giving, Wally Gentry received first prize. Apologies to Weppie for announcing the incorrect result in the Graaff-Reinet Advertiser.
- This coming Saturday, 23 February, a 4-Ball Alliance will be held at the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club with tee-off from 12:30.
- The Proudfoot tournament - which will be held from 21 to 23 March - is fast approaching.
The field is filling up and golfers are encouraged to enter as soon as possible.
