GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — Next week, the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club will host golfers from all over the country when the 21st Proudfoot Tournament is held over three days from March 16 to 18.
Approximately 270 rounds of golf will be played over the three days and participants will enjoy dinner at the Golf Club on the three days when they will also be entertained with live music.
While the Proudfoot is a celebration of golf it is also an essential source of revenue to the Club to enable it to meet its on-going expenditure and to ensure that the Club remains viable.
The Club is grateful to its sponsors and in particular, to N1 Construction, the family of the late Rege Holmes and Spandau Spar who are the main sponsors on the three days.
Other sponsors include Van Wyk Theron, PSG and Riverside Garage.
The field will play for the Solomon Cup and the newly introduced Rege Holmes Trophy and winners will also receive meaningful prizes on all three days and overall winners will share in a fourth prize giving.
The committee and members of the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club have gone to great lengths to ensure that the tournament is of the highest quality and the best yet.
After recent rains, the golf course is in incredible shape thanks also to the tireless efforts of the Club Captain, Johnny Ludick and his team.
The course was recently rated 12th out of the 15 best golf courses in the Eastern Cape and has been rated in the top ten 9-hole golf courses in the country. It is deserving of these accolades.
The Club looks forward to a great three days of golf.
