GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — On Saturday, May 13, many golfers took advantage of the beautiful crisp autumn day to play golf on the magnificent Graaff-Reinet course.
The members made a huge effort to invite non-regular and aspirant golfers to join them in the Better-Ball competition.
Golfing duo Rowan George and Jason Vers came out tops in this competition with a score of 51, followed by Godwin Bosch and Dick van Wyk in second place on a count-out, Grand Rudlin and Richard Swartz in third place with 47points and Dawid Jansen and Bjorn Isaacs in fourth place on a count-out.
A wonderful friendly atmosphere prevailed as the golfers guided their partners in the intricacies of the game.
The many prizes sponsored by Nommerpas and Derek Light went to both golfers and non-golfers.
The hit and giggle ladies, with “coaches” Ken Eaton and Brendon Burger, played the shortened course. The day ended with a delicious braai kindly prepared by Derek and Moira Light.
A Better-Ball competition, with different formats, will be held monthly to encourage new members to join the Club and utilise this gem we have in Graaff-Reinet.
