FOOTBALL NEWS - The Dr Beyers Naudé Local Football Association (LFA) Top 8 Knockout competition, first round, semi-finals and finals took place at the Masizakhe Stadium and Newlands Field in Eunice Kekana Village on 4 June.
The LFA executives are planning to make this an annual competition.
Eight teams participated: Masizakhe teams - Dangerous Darkies, AmaMpondo FC and Morocco Kids FC; Jansenville teams - JV Super Stars and Shooting Stars FC; Asherville team - Future Stars FC; Kroonvale team - Protea Spurs FC; and the Aberdeen team - Everton FC.
First Round:
- Future Stars bt Protea Spurs 2 - 1
- Morocco Kids bt JV Super Stars 3 - 2
- AmaMPondo bt Dangerous Darkies 2 - 0
- Everton FC bt Shooting Stars 4 - 1
Semi-finals:
- Future Stars bt Morocco Kids 3 - 0
- AmaMpondo bt Everton in a penalty score 4 - 2
Finals:
- Future Stars bt AmaMpondo 5 - 1
