Camdeboo stays on top, two bottom teams relegated

FOOTBALL NEWS - The Stream D of the Men's Regional Soccer League for teams in the Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality, ended Saturday 25 March with Camdeboo Football Academy once again in number one spot at the top of the league.

Portugal Birds is in 2nd place and JV Manchester United is 3rd. The bottom two teams, Eleven Attackers and Real Madrid will be relegated from the league.

Top teams and top players

Camdeboo Football Academy coach, Xolile Galada: "I'm very excited to see the hard work paying off. We are not surprised. We set goals before the start of the season, and game by game we tried to make points. We were prepared, and never took any game for granted. We worked hard and that is why we won the stream D again. We are now focusing on the Easter Annual Tournament - hopefully we will win that as well. It will be a great motivation before the regional playoffs that will determine the Sarah Baartman District winner. The team worked hard and all of them were outstanding. One player who pushed hard to be given a chance, is under 17 central midfielder, Luzuko Dominos. His first season was exceptional. He was pushing to the deep sea and showed management that he should be given a chance.

Portugal Birds club manager, advocate Patrick Sota: "We thank the management team and the players for having worked very hard this season, with new, young players compared to last season.

This is also a great achievement for the club because we finished in 5th place last season. We are looking forward to go to the second spot play-offs in Grahamstown in May, but for now we are preparing for the upcoming Easter Tournament. The coach of Portugal Birds says it's difficult to select one player, because of the valuable contribution by all players throughout the season."

JV Manchester United FC, Sonwabo Langbooi: "I would give it to Warren "Mahlubi - Mnto'mdala akalahlwa" Booysen. He has proven to be a very consistent player in all 16 games played. He was the anchor for the club and performed very well. Very lively on the field and the way he talks it is obvious he enjoys football. He was great overall great - in attack and defence."
