GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A whopping 86 community members participated in Saturday's parkrun, despite a high temperature of 30 degrees at 8 am.
Regular walkers, joggers and runners were excited to welcome members of the local police college, who attended the run as part of a training session.
The challenging 5km-route and gruelling heat couldn't stop Alfred Malotana, who crossed the finish line first with 23:22. Youngster Robertino Joubert (u.10) was second (26:06). An unregistered runner came third.
Kimberleigh Oxenham was first of the women to cross the finish line with 29:30. Lucinda Prins was second (32:30) and Caryn Cherrington third (36:36).
Volunteers on the day included Jackie Taylor-Freeme, Rozelle Kohne, Daleen Hobson, Lusan Luscombe, Peter Burdette, Mike Calitz, Shirley Spencer, Charles Maasdorp, Kim Spencer Primic and two rangers from SANparks. Two members of the SAPS also manned a water station.
