GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality is remaining tight-lipped about the replacement of Chief Financial Officer, Heleen Kok with Acting CFO Delphine Sauls in November last year.
At the time the then acting spokesperson for the municipality, Wilca Smith, said she could not comment as "the matter affected the employee directly". New Acting Spokesperson, Edwardine Abader, recently echoed this statement: "The Municipal Manager is not going to reply on the inquiry."
During a 5 November budget council meeting last year, Kok was still in her chair. At the meeting, Mayor Deon de Vos referred to her as one of the municipality's problem-solvers after Provincial Treasury indicated they would keep a close eye on the financial situation of the municipality.
He told council that from 18 November, Kok will have the responsibility to submit weekly cash flow statements to Treasury, and will play a huge part in the municipality's way forward.
However, days after the 5 November meeting, Kok was replaced with Sauls. Advertiser spoke to various councillors, but they are also in the dark about what is going on behind the scenes.
