NATIONAL NEWS - As the African National Congress (ANC) prepares to start its all-important national policy conference on Friday, President Jacob Zuma has reflected on the challenges facing the party, saying that it will emerge from the meeting with solutions.
The president will open the conference at 9am.
The over 4,000 ANC delegates expected at Nasrec in Soweto will spend the first two days of the six-day conference assessing the state of the organisation.
Those gathered will review the party’s old and new policies and make resolutions that could be effected at the national conference later this year.
The ANC is going into this conference divided and marred by infighting and factionalism and with the alliance in crisis.
Zuma told guests at Thursday night’s gala dinner that the party will use the conference to address all challenges.
“We’ve set aside two days to focus on organisational renewal. South Africa needs a strong, united and focused ANC.”
