NATIONAL NEWS - The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is urging pension fund beneficiaries to only allow accredited officers to help them at pay points.
In the last week, at least five pensioners have fallen victim to scams which left them with counterfeit money at two pay points in Pretoria.
Four pension fund beneficiaries were duped at the Kopanong centre in Akasia, while the other was taken advantage of at a facility in Ga-Rankuwa.
Sassa's Nandi Mosia says they are carrying out their own inquiry, alongside a police probe.
“Never allow someone to assist you when counting your money at a pay point. This provides for an opportunity for the exchange of fake notes.
