NATIONAL NEWS - Parliament is this week expected to receive a report on the violence that marred the State of the Nation Address (Sona).
At least eight Parliamentary Protection Services officers, as well as several Members of Parliament (MPs) were injured when a brawl broke out in the National Assembly.
As with previous years’, security officials had been called in to forcefully remove Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MPs.
The national legislature's presiding officers have ordered an investigation into the chaos.
A day after the incident, Secretary to Parliament Gengezi Mgidlana established an inter-divisional committee to investigate the chaos.
Parliament also defended the controversial Parliamentary Protection Services, saying MPs made them work under difficult conditions.
Parliamentary spokesperson Manelisi Wolela says Mgidlana will table his report to the presiding officers.
