NATIONAL NEWS - The NPA has confirmed its top prosecutor Gerrie Nel, who oversaw the convictions of Paralympian Oscar Pistorius and police chief Jackie Selebi, has quit.
The prosecuting authority says Nel handed in his resignation.
Nel is one of the most high profile and successful prosecutors in the country.
He led Operation Bad Guys, the investigation and prosecution of Selebi and the murder of mining tycoon Brett Kebble.
Nicknamed "The Bulldog", Nel achieved international status when he successfully prosecuted Pistorius.
