NATIONAL NEWS - An Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader and another party member has been shot and wounded in Vrygrond near Muizenberg, in the Western Cape.
The shooting was reported in the area late last night.
The men, both apparently Vrygrond residents, were transported to hospital moments after the incident.
EFF leader Godfrey Tromp and another member, who has not yet been identified, are recovering in hospital after the shooting.
The party’s Melikhaya Xego says this is the second attempt on Tromp’s life after his car was petrol bombed over the weekend.
“On Sunday night, Godfrey was intimidated by guys whom he identified as gangsters in the area. [They] are claiming they want a protection fee for business people in the area.”
