GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging wave conditions along the coastline stretching from Alexander Bay to Plettenberg Bay, with hazardous seas expected to persist until Friday evening.
According to the advisory, moderate risk conditions are anticipated, with large waves likely to disrupt navigation at sea. The warning particularly highlights the danger to small vessels, which may struggle in the swell and could potentially take on water or capsize.
The public and maritime operators are urged to exercise caution. Small boat owners are strongly advised to avoid heading out to sea, while larger vessels should remain alert and monitor updates from marine authorities.
Conditions are expected to gradually subside from Friday evening, bringing some relief to affected regions.
Very cold conditions are expected in places over the Eastern Cape interior on Friday, 1 August.
