GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A municipal water truck that overturned and landed in a ditch will be out of action for now, but the Dr Beyers Naudé Municipality says water deliveries to drought-affected areas without running water will continue uninterrupted.
The accident occurred on Friday 6 March, when the full truck left the road in Republic Road, Umasizakhe.
Two front-end loaders were used to lift it back on its wheels.
Acting municipal spokesperson, Edwardine Abadar, said water is still being carted to affected areas. "They are carting water with water trucks," she said.
Abader said there were no serious injuries and an in-house investigation into the accident is under way.
Eyewitnesses said when the truck went through a bend it looked like the weight of the water affected the truck's balance throwing it from side to side. It seemed as if the driver lost control of the vehicle which then left the road and overturned.
