GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Traffic law enforcement officers from both the Eastern and the Western Cape, led by the Eastern Cape MEC for transport, Xolile Nqatha, are holding joint operations on some of the major routes connecting the two provinces.
According to the department of transport, traffic volumes are gradually increasing on some of the Eastern Cape major routes, with the R61 and the N2 roads connecting the provinces seeing a significant flow of mostly inbound traffic consisting mainly of minibus taxis.
The Eastern Cape has deployed all its rapid response teams on the hotspot roads for a swift response in case of emergencies.
The province becomes a hive of activities during this period with places of worship often buzzing, while a number of sporting and traditional events are also taking place during Easter.
