GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Three people lost their lives in two separate accidents last weekend.
The first occurred on Saturday, 25 August, shortly before 06:00, on the N9 between Aberdeen and Graaff-Reinet.
The driver of the vehicle, a Nissan double cab, lost control of the vehicle about 23km from Graaff-Reinet, and the vehicle left the road and overturned.
The driver, a 43-year-old man from the Western Cape, was trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene of the accident. The six passengers in the vehicle were all seriously injured.
Five were taken to Midland Hospital in Graaff-Reinet, and one, a child, to Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth.
The second accident was on the R63 between Graaff-Reinet and Murraysburg.
The vehicle, which was travelling towards Graaff-Reinet, left the road about 15km from Graaff-Reinet and went through a fence when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The four people in the car were all members of the same family, from King Williams Town. Two women, aged 54 and 32, died at the scene of the accident.
As is standard procedure, a case of culpable homicide has been opened from each accident.
