ABERDEEN NEWS — Roniel Stokes, a 20-year-old man from Rafferty Street, Lotusville, was sentenced in the District Court of Aberdeen on November 16 to three years imprisonment for housebreaking and theft.
Stokes was found inside a house at Grey Street, Aberdeen, after the alarm was activated. He had previous convictions for housebreaking and theft. The quick response by Cst. Ferlyn Kameel and Cst. Mbongeni Olifant led to the arrest of the suspect on October 7.
Two men, aged 23 and 24 years, were arrested on November 16 for theft under false pretences. No further details are available at present, and the case has been postponed until November 23 for a formal bail application.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on November 16 for theft. The suspect stole a bag of maize to the value of R150 on a farm in the Aberdeen district. He will appear in court on November 23 for legal aid.
A case of housebreaking and theft has been opened after a shop in Rafferty Street, Lotusville, was broken into during the night of November 18. The suspect gained entry by cutting the lock and he stole cash, cigarettes and a tablet phone to the value of R3000. The case is still under investigation.
Six merino lambs have been slaughtered on a farm in the district of Aberdeen, with a value R12 000. A case of stock theft is being investigated.
