KAROO NEWS & VIDEO - Tourism came to a standstill during lockdown, but the sun will shine over the industry again.
Sunrise, sunset and spectacular views of the moon around Graaff-Reinet are valuable sights for locals and tourists, according to Graaff-Reinet Tourism chief executive officer, Jack van Niekerk.
According to him, tourism may be out of action for an unknown time, but he is positive that when the industry is operating again, the sunset scenery will attract visitors once again. "The sun and moon phenomena are very popular with tourists.
They especially visit the Valley of Desolation to photograph the sight. It is, therefore, a major attraction to this region," Van Niekerk said.

He added that, when it comes to international travellers, Dutch and German tourists are especially fond of photographing these views, so they can forever look back at their sun and moon sightseeing in the Karoo.
