GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The police recently embarked on a three-day vaccination drive to ensure the vaccination of front line officers and support staff as part of the national drive to ensure the vaccination of front line officers and support staff.
Thousands of front line officers in law enforcement should be prioritised as they are exposed to infection daily while executing their duties.
The local police academy was identified as a vaccination site where local police officers, management, administrative staff and other support staff such as interns and reservists, were vaccinated.
The roll-out was done in partnership with the local Department of Health in the Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality.
The roll-out aims to reach about 230 000 people a day.
According to Graaff-Reinet Cluster communication officer, Bradley Rawlington, "the police has embarked on this drive to enhance efforts to encourage everybody to get vaccinated as it is the right thing to do."
The roll-out went well and no incidents were reported, paving the way for other law enforcement agencies like traffic and correctional services to follow suit and vaccinate their officials.
