GRAAFF-REINET NEWS -The Graaff-Reinet SPCA this afternoon (31 December) did an urgent call on people to refrain from setting crackers alight as part of the New Year celebrations.
Hillary Chaplin, an inspector at the SPCA said they expect their kennels to be full of pets by tomorrow, because of crackers.
Chaplin told the Advertiser that they see pets dying every year, not directly because of shooting crackers, but secondary injuries when they try to hide and run away.
"There is more than the cracker way to celebrate the new year," she said. If anybody see stray pets, because of people shooting crackers, they can phone the SPCA at 0836419180.
