GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The cold front that made landfall this past weekend forced temperatures to plummet to as low as -5°C in Graaff-Reinet.
It resulted in a dusting of snow across the district on Sunday, July 16, with snow even falling in the streets of the towns of Murraysburg and Nieu-Bethesda.
To the delight of many, snow was even sighted at the Valley of Desolation in the Camdeboo National Park – a rarity.
This is the first time in several years that the district experienced snowfalls to this extent and many people took to social media, sharing videos and photos of snowfalls.
According to Snow Report SA no new snowfall is however expected for a while.
“We are not foreseeing any snow for the rest of this week,” read their latest report.
Temperatures are expected to return to normal from Tuesday onwards, with maximum temperatures of 23°C, 24°C and 20°C predicted for Graaff-Reinet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
