GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — Founded in 1957 and situated on one of the loveliest, oldest streets in Graaff-Reinet, Parsonage Street Home has a long history of caring for the community’s elders.
Though long established, the Home continues with the necessity to develop and move forward in order to meet ever-changing demands placed upon it - from developing independent, secure cottages in Brenda Horwitz Court to evolving the Frail Care facility.
The Board of Parsonage Street Home recently hosted a cocktail party, in order to thank the many generous individuals of the Graaff-Reinet area for their enormously appreciated contributions to the Home through gifts, financial donations and their time.
The residents of the Home benefit tremendously from knowing how much the community holds them in their thoughts.
The evening was hosted in the newly refurbished Van Eck Drawing Room, which was made possible in part by a bequest from Mrs van Eck and a donation by Carol Ann van Jaarsveld. Other notable contributions were through Blue Magnolia and Karoo Living.
The evening was also an opportunity to communicate certain plans for the continued development of the Home and the management of its future.
As the community may know, the Home is comprised of three areas - private cottages in Brenda Horwitz Court, fully assisted private rooms within the Parsonage Home main building, and Frail Care.
The Home’s immediate priority for 2018 will be the complete renovation of Frail Care and to that end, the Home's Board is consulting with specialist architects, their nurses, and builders in order to get this important project off the ground.
Naturally, they would be inordinately grateful for any contributions toward this.
The Board intends to update the community regularly on these developments.
