GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Graws is appealing to all Graaff-Reinet residents and business owners to help them reopen its doors.
"As we reflect on the recent holiday season, the Graaff-Reinet Animal Welfare Society (Graws) is grateful for the opportunity to have welcomed boarders and facilitated the adoption of 15 loving animals into forever homes," says Director Wessel Landman.
However, despite the Graws family's passion and commitment to animal welfare, the society increasingly faces significant financial challenges.
"Due to limited resources, we have been forced to temporarily close our doors, and unfortunately, we are unable to provide a specific reopening date at this time," says Landman.
"Our dedicated team, led by Carlin Raath, continues to provide essential assistance to animals in need, whenever possible, despite the closure. We are deeply committed to our mission and are eager to resume our full range of services as soon as possible.
"To ensure a stable and sustainable future for Graws, we require a minimum of R60 000 in our account to cover operational expenses for the next three to four months.
This will enable us to focus on establishing a reliable income stream and continue providing vital services to our community," he says.
Landman is appealing to local businesses and individuals for support. "We are grateful for the ongoing monthly donations of R500 from The Junkman, Pick and Pay, Tyremart, Karoo Health Care Group, Karoo Ranching, Engen Riverside, Derek Light Attorneys and Jean Venter.
We implore other businesses to join this group of generous supporters by committing to a monthly donation."
