GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - Newspapers in the Group Editors stable did their communities proud at the annual national Forum for Community Journalists (FCJ) Awards held in Cape Town last night, Friday 4 August.
Not only did Knysna-Plett Herald win the award for best corporate-owned newspaper with a circulation of less than 5 000, they also took a third place in the category for best front pages.
The paper's news editor, Blake Linder, also won the award for sport writer of the year.
Hugo Redelinghuys, who is no stranger to the FCJ Awards, took second place in the category for best sport writer and was placed third in the sports photography category. Eugene Gunning from George Herald won third place in the column-writing category
George Herald won third place for best corporate-owned newspaper with a circulation of more than 5 000, while journalist Kristy Kolberg was announced as headline writer of the year and was highly commended in the category of news photos.
