GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - There have been no new animals surrendered to the Graaff-Reinet SPCA since national lockdown started last week.
"This is good news from our side," said Graaff-Reinet SPCA Inspector Hillary Chaplin. There have also been no emergencies reported to the SPCA.
The Advertiser reported last week that 25 animals were surrendered to the organisation before lockdown was announced, as owners feared contracting Covid-19 from their pets.
According to the World Health Orginisation, there is no evidence that pets such as dogs and cats can be infected with the coronavirus.
Chaplin said that the local SPCA's food stock is enough to last for the remainder of the lockdown period.
