NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS - It’s the time of year where ‘Barman Boetie’s’ garlic crop is ready for harvest, and true to Nieu-Bethesda form, this means time for celebration!
The annual Garlic Harvest Party takes place on Friday, November 3, at the Ramstal Pub in Nieu-Bethesda from around 17:00.
To be a part of this fun filled event, all you have to do is use fresh Bethesda garlic if possible (which is available from Boetie during the week free of charge), and cook up a dish that contains garlic as the main ingredient.
Your dish should feed about 10 people and can either be cooked on the fires provided, or prepared at home.
The deliciously aromatic dishes will then be shared and all participants will enjoy a communal meal.
There will also be a garlic plaiting competition which is an ancient craft that keeps garlic fresh for longer.
Entrance is free and a cash bar is available.
