KAROO NEWS AND VIDEO - Fire erupted at one of the residents' dwelling in Riemvasmaak yesterday evening, 1 July. The fire, caused by a candle, destroyed everything that was inside the house.
The owner of the house, Veronica de Boer, said it happened just minutes after she took a few steps outside and away from her front door to call one of her children to come back inside because it was getting dark.
When she turned back towards her house the fire was already escalating and the sitting bench inside the house already caught fire.
De Boer, confused and nervous, could only get inside and grab her child who was fortunately already moving towards the door.
De Boer and Jonathan Williams lost everything in the fire. Nobody sustained any burn wounds and no life was lost in the tragedy. Both their children are unscathed.
The residents of Riemvasmaak quickly helped and managed to put out the fire, but could not save anything.
Nothing could be saved as the fire destroyed all the belongings of the owners.
