WILLOWMORE NEWS - Three more health workers in Willowmore have tested positive for Covid-19.
The updated number of cases in the municipality was announced by Mayor Deon de Vos yesterday (Wednesday) in a JOC meeting, and De Vos later confirmed that two of the four confirmed cases in the town are contract workers, brought in to help at the roadblock. This includes the 32-year-old woman whose results were announced on Tuesday, when the hospital was closed.
The other two people infected are permanent staff in the health department.
The hospital was reopened last night (Wednesday), and Cllr Ewald Loock thanked the personnel for getting the hospital ready for service again. He also thanked the clinic staff, who were prepared to accept hospital cases if necessary.
Department of Health spokesperson Siyanda Manana has not yet responded to questions about whether the latest three cases reported any symptoms, or if their status was picked up during routine screening of health workers. Loock urged residents to remain calm and continue to observe all the regulations on social distancing, masks and hand washing.
