CRADOCK NEWS - A group of learners of Cradock High School had the privilege of attending the Jordaan Family’s annual merino ram auction on 5 February.
The Jordaan family have been loyal supporters of Cradock High for many years and it was a special occasion for the learners.
Accompanied by facilitator Albert Michau, the group was excited about seeing how a prestige auction works.
Needless to say, the day out of school was a real treat!
The meticulous planning that goes into every step of organising such an auction, as well as the biosecurity that forms such a big part of any gathering where animals and farmers get together, was a huge eye-opener for the learners.
“They thoroughly enjoyed being introduced to the world of top-quality merino breeding and gained valuable insight into an important part of our agricultural heritage that few get to experience,” says Michau.
“The day proved to be both educational and memorable, sparking curiosity and appreciation far beyond the classroom.”
The learners also extended their sincere gratitude to their headmaster, Anthony Kitching, for making this unique opportunity possible.
