JANSENVILLE NEWS - Three suspects will appear in the Jansenville District Court today (14 December), for allegedly stealing four large cellphone tower batteries worth an estimated R60 000 in Rafelskloof, Jansenville, on 9 December.
“SAPS Visible Police members and off duty members received a description of the alleged suspects and the vehicle they were travelling in,” said Capt Bradley Rawlinson, spokesperson for the policing district.
“Vehicle checkpoints were set up around 2km from Jansenville on the R75, where SAPS waited for the suspects.”
In the early hours of 10 December, the police members stopped the vehicle in question, and after searching the bakkie discovered the four batteries. Three men, aged 24, 27 and 48, were arrested on charges of causing damage to infrastructure, possession of stolen property and possession of housebreaking implements.
Their vehicle, a Toyota bakkie, was confiscated.
Jansenville Station Commander, Capt Pieter Erasmus, thanked the members for their good work and commitment.
Four cellphone tower batteries worth an estimated R60 000 were stolen and retrieved.
