MIDDELBURG NEWS - An arrest has been made in a Middelburg robbery case, in which a 73-year-old woman was attacked and robbed in her house on Sunday morning, 14 June.
According to the police spokesperson, Captain Lariane Jonker, the victim was attacked in her bedroom at her home in Bothaweg, Midros, at about 01:30.
Jonker said the woman was confronted by an unknown assailant in her bedroom, who then threatened her with a knife and tied her hands with a piece of rope.
The suspect then took her cellphone and wristwatch and fled the scene.
Middelburg detectives have arrested a 34-year-old man, who was found shortly after, selling the phone to a foreign national.
A case of house robbery is being investigated. The suspect appeared in the Middelburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 17 June. The new court date is not yet known.
