ABERDEEN NEWS - Two new teachers have started their teaching careers at Aberdeen Secondary School this year.
Leilani van Staden from Willowmore trained at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, and is currently teaching life orientation and arts and culture. She is pleased to work close to her home town, and has found the people of Aberdeen to be friendly and helpful.
She hopes to become involved in netball and athletics at the school.
Claudio Jonas is from Somerset East, and trained at NMU in Port Elizabeth. He is also happy to be relatively close to home, and likes the clean streets and quiet of Aberdeen.
Jonas is teaching social science and economic and management sciences. He has trained to coach cricket, tennis and hockey.
None of these are currently offered at the school, but he hopes to reinstate cricket, as the school has the necessary equipment.
