ABERDEEN NEWS — Arrests were made recently for two older cases of housebreaking and theft in Aberdeen, as well as one case of theft.
Sometime between August 14 and August 17, a house was broken into in Malva Street, Lotusville. After a window was forced open, electrical appliances, cups and glasses were stolen from the house to the value of R500. A 22-year-old man was arrested on September 20, and he will appear in court on Thursday, September 28, for a bail application.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on September 26 in connection with a case of housebreaking and theft that happened during the night of February 12 this year. Electrical appliances, a cell phone and jewellery, valued at just under R10 000, were stolen from the house in Kenneth Maneli Avenue, Thembalesizwe.
On September 14 a theft occurred from a house in Douglas Street, Lotusville. The owner of the house had gone to a funeral. According to a neighbour, while she was away, the young man staying with her sold her wardrobe to a second hand dealer’s shop in town. A 22-year-old man was arrested on 20th September, and the stolen property to the value of R1 500 was recovered.
A new case of housebreaking and theft was reported after a window was broken at a house in Vink Street, Lotusville, between September 18 and September 19, and a toolbox to the value of R1 100 was stolen. No arrest has yet been made.
The final case of housebreaking and theft occurred between September 23 and September 24 at Leeubekkie Street, Lotusville. After a window was forced open, a TV and clothes were stolen from the house, with a value of R700. The case is still under investigation.
