GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — This is a piece of uniform which belonged to Alex Willats, a trooper with the British Army during the Anglo Boer War.
As no Christmas cards were available in Graaff-Reinet where he was stationed at the time, he made this card and sent it to his fiancée in England.

When he returned to England, they married and returned to South Africa to settle in Transvaal. Alex Willat died in Johannesburg at the age of ninety-eight.
This unique Christmas card is currently on display at The Military Museum of The Graaff-Reinet Museum Complex.
