GRAAFF-REINET — This past weekend, the Graaff-Reinet airfield hosted a bi-annual turbine jet fly-in being with over 40 RC pilots from around the country enjoying four days of all things aviation related.
The avid model aircraft enthusiasts transported their jets, gliders, aerobatic and scale models from Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town to enjoy the scenic 360° view offered by the Camdeboo countryside.
Despite what has felt like weeks of never-ending gusty conditions, the wind did back off enough to allow for some spectacular aerial displays, especially on Sunday, June 18, when conditions became perfect.
This by-invite-only event is organised by Zane Mannell and Brian Jones.
Radio control flyers who would like to participate in the upcoming November fly-about are welcome to contact Mannell at 082 827 8410.
Caterers are also welcomed to apply.
