ABERDEEN NEWS - There were five cases of note opened by Aberdeen SAPS in the last week.
The first was a business robbery, at a shop in Douglas Street, Lotusville. On Monday 21 January at 22:20 the 38-year-old shopkeeper was closing the shop when suddenly three men forced him to open it up again.
They stole an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes before fleeing from the scene.
Three Dorper sheep were taken in a case of stock theft. The 55-year-old complainant, who lives in Bokpos Street, reported that when he left his farm at about 11:30 on 23 January, all was well, but when he returned at the same time on the following day, he found the heads and skins of three sheep. The value of the animals that had been slaughtered was given at R6 000.
There were two cases of housebreaking and theft, and one of attempted housebeaking and theft.
The owner of the house in Lotusville in the first case returned home on 27 January after being away overnight and found that someone had forced entrance to the property.
A bag containing items including her cellular phone had been taken, with a total value of R 1 750.
The second case was also in Lotusville. The owner left home at about 20:55 on 27 January, and when he returned home in the early hours of the next morning he found that the door had been forced open. He discovered that loudspeakers, cellular phones, a laptop and a Nike top had been taken, valued at R6 000
The final case, on Monday 28 January, was at a house in Stockenstroom Street, where a break-in had occurred just the week before. This time, the complainant, a local school teacher, returned home unexpectedly during the morning to collect her cellphone. On arrival, she found her house in a mess, with clothing and other items of value lying around. When she entered a bedroom she discovered a man in the room. He ran away when she began to scream for help, but fortunately, a SAPS vehicle was patrolling in the area, and the suspect was apprehended.
There were two arrests made during the week: one for housebreaking and theft, and one for possession of drugs. Two men were also held briefly for being drunk and disorderly.
