GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A suspected drug peddler (26) is scheduled to appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate's Court this week after he was arrested by the local police K9 unit on Saturday 1 May.

According to Graaff-Reinet police spokesperson, Capt Bradley Rawlinson, the suspect was found in possession of four Mandrax tablets, four dagga bompies and a small plastic bag containing tik.

"The suspect is expected to appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate’s Court soon," Rawlinson said.

Graaff-Reinet police station commander, Colonel Andrè Arends, commended constables Natasha Groener, Lorencia Jacobs and Wandile Dyanty for the arrest and drug recovery.

In unrelated incidents on the same day, police arrested four more suspects during operations in the area.

A 26-year old man was arrested in Kroonvale after he was found to be in possession of four straws of tik, half a Mandrax tablet and one quarter of a Mandrax tablet.

At 19:25 that evening a 27-year old suspect was arrested in Caledon Street for allegedly being involved in an incident of theft out of a motor vehicle.

"While in the Goedhals Square area, another suspect (33) was arrested after he was found in possession of a packet of crushed Mandrax," Rawlinson said.

The focus of the operation moved to Napier Street at approximately 20:00 where the team arrested another 33-year old suspect who was found in possession of a Mandrax tablet, a bankie of tik and two crushed Mandrax tablets.
