KAROO NEWS - Three suspects appeared in the Jansenville District Court on 14 December, for allegedly stealing four large cellphone tower batteries worth an estimated R60 000 in Rafelskloof, Jansenville, on 9 December.
The case was postponed until 21 December.
"SAPS Visible Police members and off duty members received a description of the alleged suspects and the vehicle they were travelling in," said Capt Bradley Rawlinson, spokesperson for the policing district. "Vehicle checkpoints were set up, 2km from Jansenville on the R75, where SAPS waited for the suspects."
In the early hours of 10 December, the police members stopped the vehicle in question, and after searching the bakkie discovered the four batteries. Three men, aged 24, 27 and 48, were arrested on charges of causing damage to infrastructure, possession of stolen property and possession of housebreaking implements.
Their vehicle, a Toyota bakkie, was confiscated.
Jansenville Station Commander, Capt Pieter Erasmus, thanked the members for their work and commitment.
