GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Local NPO Maya Deaf Foundation will have their first Deaf Awareness Walk on Saturday 7 September at 8am.
The event will take place in association with the Mountain Drive parkrun in Graaff-Reinet.
Registered runners need not fear; their times will still be kept. Participants are encouraged to wear something red or blue for the 5km event, and ear plugs will be sold at R10 to raise awareness for hearing loss.
"The purpose of this initiative is to get our community actively involved in showing their support to those affected by hearing loss by experiencing, even to a slight extent, how hearing loss can affect everyday activities," said representative Ruth Abercrombie.
Entrance is free and a donation box will be available.
