GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Camdeboo Girl Guides will be hosting a Bake Sale this Saturday, 22 September, at the Spandau Spar arcade in Graaff-Reinet from 09:00 until everything has been sold.
If anyone is able to help with a donation of a home-baked or store-bought cake, muffins, cupcakes, biscuits, sweet or savoury snacks, please contact Nicola on 083 415 6514 or guidesgrt@gmail.com, or deliver them to the Guiding Bake Sale table in the walkway outside the “old” Spar between 08:00 and 09:00 on Saturday.
The Camdeboo District currently has two Units. The 1st Unit will start up again under the leadership of Nicola Beldon early next year. The 2nd Camdeboo Guiding Unit, in Kroonvale, is led by District Commissioner Ethne Hufkie, and has been up and running for five years.
The girls are not charged any fee to join or participate in activities, and currently there are no sponsors, so funding is a challenge.
The proceeds from the Bake Sale will go towards craft supplies, refreshments, badges, transport, outings and camps for both Units.
The organisers would like to encourage members of the public to support them by buying some of the treats on offer. Large cakes will be cut up and sold by the slice, giving people the opportunity to sample more than one variety.
There will also be chocolate brownies, cupcakes, muffins, doughnuts, and fudge, as well as popcorn and assorted savouries for those with not such a sweet tooth.
The Girl Guides movement provides a wonderful learning experience for girls of all ages, and every rand brought in from the Bake Sale will be used to help fund their activities.
