Ribbons are a fun and inexpensive way to dress up a Christmas tree.

LIFESTYLE NEWS - These decorating tips will help ensure that your Christmas tree is a talking point at this year's family Christmas celebrations: 

• Use faux floral and foliage picks, available from floral shops, to fill in a Christmas tree and add interest. 

• Ribbons tied to a Christmas tree are a fun and inexpensive way to dress up a Christmas tree. Stick to a maximum of four kinds of ribbon for a sophisticated look. 

• Start hanging ornaments close to the trunkof the tree, and then hang ornaments on the outer branches. Use the lightest ornaments closer to the trunk of the tree, so that they still stand out.
